Let's Avoid Useless New Year Party

Many people lost their beloved family, home, treasures, and goods because of the gigantic earthquake that triggered tsunami waves on last Sunday. According to media, currently more than 83 thousands lost their lives across South East Asia and Southern Asia countries. The death tolls are even estimated to reach more than a hundred thousands.

The problem is not over for those who survive particularly in NAD Indonesia. Although a large number of local and international aid groups have already arrived in the provincial capital of Banda Aceh, their effort has been hampered by the wreck and damage infrastructures. Starvation and disease are threatening hundreds of thousands of survivors.

Not only are the Acehneses and Indonesia people mourning, but the whole world is also mourning. Therefore, for the sake of humanity let's cancel and avoid our plans to celebrate New Year parties. Do we deserve having an insane and crazy party on New Year while our brothers and sisters are suffering right now? Why don't we change our scheduled parties into nights of musing and praying?

Thanks to Prime Minister of Malaysia Abdullah Badawi and Prime Minister of Thailand Taksin Sinawatra who have ordered their people to cancel New Year parties due to the national mourning on tsunami disaster.

I was totally disappointed, desperate, and angry to any Indonesian people who keep their New Year parties going on. According to detik, many hotels, private companies, and official government have refused to cancel the scheduled New Year parties. Jakarta's governor Sutiyoso even insists not to cancel the New Year party at Ancol beach festival. He said that it was difficult to cancel a party. Shame on you Sutiyoso! X-(

Hey president SBY will you follow Badawi and Taksin's pace?

Singlish

This conversation is real. It happened couple years ago when I was in Singapore. Every time I remember this I would automatically have a grin making my face looks weirder (tambah kotak kayak kubus).

Singaporean: "Hi? You are from Indonesia ha?"

Dono: "Yes, I am."

Singaporean: "My name is Kenneth Lam and what's your name ha?"

Dono: "Dono"

Singaporean: "Hahaha don't be kidding lah! What's your name?"

Dono: "DOOO NOOO"

Singaporean: "Huahahaha you like joke ha? Nice lah. Don't be kidding lah! I need your name."

Dono: "Dono Mr. Lam."

Singaporean: "Oh please, you don't know (pronounced DO NO) your name ha?"

Dono: "Haha It's my real name sir. D - O - N - O DONO. It's my Indonesian name."

Singaporean: "Haaaa :| ?"

There was a big lamented comedian whose name was Dono. Thus Dono is a common and popular name in Indonesia. Anyhow I am still not used to talking in English to any Singaporeans. Are you?

Such a busy night at Pondok Indah, South Jakarta. There are currently two big projects: Constructing underpass to overcome the traffic jam and new Mega Mall to expand the most exclusive and famous shopping center in Jakarta, Pondok Indah Mall (PIM).

Rinjani

Here's the picture of Indonesian Beauty, Mount Rinjani (3726 m / 2,224 ft) located in Lombok Island, Indonesia. It was taken in August 2001 by an amateur photographer, Cadut. FYI, Cadut's Camera recorded wrong timestamp.

Picture of Mount Rinjani (3,726 m / 2,224 ft)

As a novice Photo Editing Programmer, I failed to merge two pictures of Mount Rinjani smoothly.

In spite of the fact that I show you a bad and ugly picture, I would like to invite you to come and visit the beauty and exotic Indonesia. Bali is just one tiny Island from Indonesia's 17,000 Islands spreading from Sabang to Merauke. Are you interested now to have a fun at Lombok Island and try the challange to hike Mount Rinjani?

About Me

You may say that I am crazy. Yes, I am crazy with everything related to cat. As you might have read my previous posts, I pet a male cat named MUDREG. The word 'MUDERG' comes from "neMU DREdeG" which means that the cat was found in shaking condition. Now you know that weird name comes from. Here's the link if you wanna see him.

I love to travel around Indonesia, learning something new about culture, customs, arts, ideology, people, and the smell of the place. Dreaming to hike all Indonesian mountains. Edging along Indonesian coastwise such as 'Pelabuhan Ratu' is always my admiration.

Enjoying Rujak Bogor, Gado-gado, Ketoprak, Batagor, Gudeg, Tahu Sumedang, Martabak Manis & Telor, Bubur Indramayu, Sate Kambiang, Sate Padang (Cie Lai), and other Indonesian Food. I do relish them all. However, I don't really like HOT and SPICY food. In spite of my big appetite for Indonesian Food, somehow I don't know why my physical state keeps Begeng Bin Ceking (Skinny). Is it a blessing or a curse? :P

I am a "Milanisti" and a big fan of BENYAMIN SUEB "Tampang desa rejeki kota" sapa yang kagak pengen??? Tapi kalo bisa tampang juga kota :D

I speak two languages, Indonesian and Indramayu Language (I don't speak English hehe :P). Currently I am learning Betawi Language.

Baka sing kien kita ku ya lagi ngapak-ngapak. Kecile kita suwe ning Ndermayu je. Iku ku, kota cilik ana ning pinggir laut sing ana kilang minyak Balongan. Tinggale kita ning Ndremayu parek bunderan kijang arepe Koramil. Ari musim pelem kita ora usah tuku, lah wong mbah e kita duwe kebun pelem. Ana palem Harum Manis, Golek, Indramayu, Gedong. Uenaak pisan je. Gelem beli? Ya tuku bae, masak arep gratis hehe :D Kepriben, ngerti beli basa ngapak-ngapak mengkenen?

Aye ndiri kelahiran tanah betawi tapi aye sebenernye sedih juge kagak ngerti budaye betawi ndiri. Maunye si, aye jago mantun Betawi. Ape mau dikate nyang penting aye tetep berusahe belajar budaye Betawi. Dapetin jodoh orang Betawi juga kagak ape-ape. Sapa tau masing keturunan Pitoeng. Lebaran kagak usah mudik jauh-jauh, palingan di Kemayoran. Bweh emangnye ade nyang mau ame gue? :-D

Okay, enough with the chit chat. Now, you know some pieces of me :)

Peluang Baru Bisnis Bimbel

Wahai hamba-Ku
Kalian menyakiti hati-Ku
Wahai hamba-Ku
Kalian melecehkan cinta-Ku
Wahai hamba-Ku, teruslah berdzikir
Karena untuk menaburkan rahmat
Aku tidak pernah kikir

Aku tumpahkan, senantiasa Aku tumpahkan
rahmat Ku, bagai hujan deras
Dan itu senantiasa Aku lakukan,
Tanpa terpengaruh oleh jiwa munafikmu

Wahai hamba-Ku, teruslah berwirid
Dan meskipun bunglon kepribadianmu
Menusuk-nusukan rasa sakit
Sungguh Aku haramkan rasa sakit untuk menimpaKu
karena segala sesuatu ini adalah makhluk ciptaan-Ku
yang Aku kuasai sepenuhnya, termasuk rasa sakit

Wahai hamba-Ku, teruslah berdzikir dan berwirid
Untuk menyogok-Ku
Untuk memperdayai-Ku
Tumpahkan air mata
Sampai memenuhi tujuh samudera
Hiasilah dunia dengan keindahan warna dan suara
Mantaplah dengan segala yang kalian sembunyikan
di dalam jiwa
Sebab Akupun Maha Menahan Diri untuk
Menyimpan segala pengetahuan-Ku
Tentang rahasia-rahasia

Kalian punya peluang sangat besar
Dan rentang waktu yang sebesar-besarnya
Karena sesudah Aku turunkan Muhammad
(usholli wa usallim 'alaih)
Aku bersedia menunda hukuman
Dan adzab atas siapa saja

Wahai hamba-Ku
Meskipun Aku Akbar dan 'Adhim
Maha Besar dan Maha Agung
Namun Aku persilahkan
Kalian mengecilkan-Ku

Meskipun Aku Qowi dan Matin
Maha Sakti dan Maha Perkasa
Namun Aku persilahkan
Kalian mengkerdilkan-Ku

Meskipun Aku Jabbar dan Mutakabbir
Maha Sakti dan Maha Mengatasi
Aku persilahkan
Kalian merasa seakan mengalahkan-Ku
Meskipun Aku Kholiq dan Bari~
Maha Pencipta dan Maha Menata
Aku biarkan kalian mengaku-aku
Dan menyusun tatanan kalian sendiri

Wahai hamba Ku
Aku adalah Syadid, yang Maha Menyiksa
Aku adalah Mudhill, yang Maha Menyesatkan
Aku adalah Hakam, yang Maha Menghukum
Tetapi tenanglah jiwa kalian
Sebab kaki kanan-Ku adalah Hadi
Maha Penuntun
Kaki kiri-Ku adalah Fattah
Maha Membukakan Kesempatan
Tangan kanan-Ku adalah Halim
Maha Penyantun
Tangan kiri-Ku adalah Karim
Maha Pemberi Kemuliaan

Dan wajah-Ku, dan icon-Ku
Dan identitas utama-Ku, dan logo-Ku
Adalah Rahman Rahim
Maha Pengasih Maha Penyayang

Tenteramlah kalian
Bersukarialah kalian
Merdekalah kalian
Merdekalah dari Aku
Bahkan Aku antarkan kalian
Aku antarkan kepala kalian
Ke tangan musuh kalian

Dust in the Universe*

We are as human beings live in a planet called Earth. It is one of the nine planets in the solar system. Its diameter is 12,765 km. As we know that our "home" is small compared with other planets. For instance, the planet Jupiter has a diameter 143,000 km which is 11 times greater than that of earth.

Sun is the closest star to our home earth. The average distance between Sun and Earth is "only" 150 million km. Its diameter is 1,391,016 km which is 109 times as large as Earth's diameter. Sun holds nine planets in the solar system in orbit. Astronomers believe that its massive energy has been shining for about 4.6 billion years and will keep shining for the next 7 billion years.

Sun is not the only star exists in our galaxy "Milky Way" that has more than 400 billion stars, some of which are much larger. The shape of Milky Way is spiral which its thick is about 10,000 light-years and its diameter is about 100,000 light-years.

Andromeda Galaxy is the closest galaxy to our Milky Way. It has 200,000 light-years diameter which is 2 times greater than our Milky Way. Milky Way and Andromeda are few galaxies that have been being studied by astronomers. They believe there are more than 125 billion galaxies in the universe. Some of those galaxies are much larger and contain many more stars than the Milky Way.

Earth is just a small piece of dust in the universe.

Does the universe exist by itself without intervention of the God? If it is yes, but how come every system in the universe has single pattern that is well-ordered and well-organized? The pattern is the rotation. Earth rotates on its axis or pivot. Moon travels around Earth. Earth and the others planet in solar system travel around the Sun. The solar system travels around the center of Milky Way galaxy which is known as black hole. Even our blood system has systematic circulation trough the heart.

For me, it is a sign that the Almighty God has created the universe and its content. Without the pattern all systems in universe will be chaos. In Islam, the rotation pattern can be actualized by pilgrimage in Mecca. We walk surrounding the Kaabah.

If I were a soldier I would give my respect to my commander by raising up my right hand. Therefore, I think it merits to give my two hands raising up in order to respect and worship to the God during my praying time by Takbir.

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar.

Makan Sosis

Based on True Story, dan udah pernah gua masukin di milis SMA dan SMP gua sama sebuah forum. Tebak gua yang jadi siapa hayo? ;-)

Agung: "Nchop, bangun! Ayo makan! Jangan meringkel terus kayak kucing gitu!"

Enchop: "Brrrr... dingin banget! Apa Gung? Mau makan? Asik! Kalo gitu gua masak air dah."

Kirik: "Pong! Elu panasin kaleng sosisnya! Tuh kompor gua nganggur!"

Copong: "Iyah! Geseran dong! Sempit amat. Ntar kompornya jatuh."

Cadut: "He he he, akhirnya makan daging. Dari pagi cuman makan roti sama Indomie doang. Alhamdulillaah ya Allah. Pong!

Copong: "Ah, jangan bercanda! Udah laper nih! Gak ada tulisan Babi atau Pig-nya kok!"

Pano: "Elu katanya udah Advance tiga di LIA! Kan di sini ditulis PORK!"

Copong: "Eeeeh, emang Pork apaan?"

Pano: "Pork itu BAABBIIIII! BEGOOO! Elu di pasar asal beli sosis yah?"

Copong: "Ah enggak! Babi itu Pig bukan Pork!"

Copong masih ngeyel.

Kirik: "Bener Pong! Pork itu daging Babi yang udah diolah!"

Cadut pun tiba-tiba marah sama Pano.

Cadut: "Elu No! Aturan elu diam aja.

Enchop: "Elu Dut! Ternyata kita-kita emang gak diijinin makan Babi. Udah ah Dut!"

Agung dan Kirik: "He he he... Alhamdulilah (tidak fasih). Sorry nih. Jatah daging tambah banyak."

Being in a Part of a System

a system that consists of sub-systems

I got a good lesson from regular meeting at my office.

Take a look carefully at the picture above! It has a small wheel labeled with number 1 and two other big wheels labeled with number 2 and 3. It also has two rubbers (4 & 5) connected each wheel therefore whole wheels can rotate smoothly and the system works well then.

Now, can you figure out which sub-system that is the most important to support the whole system? The answer is none. Each sub-system has crucial function hence every sub-system is important and none is more important than the others. Even for the bagatelle rubbers sub-system that have tiny size and light weight. Once the rubbers get burned or cut off then the whole systems certainly fails to work.

So, never think what you are currently doing in your career or job is less important or more important than others. What you do depends on others work and what you do is needed by others. Therefore be serious and focus on what you are doing right now!

I have problems on that though :(

My First Experience Teaching Elementary School Kids

Couple days ago, I had a chance to tutor some kids from elementary and junior high school at a mosque near my home. I accepted to have a go there after having an invitation to be a volunteer from the prosperity council of mosque. The material I gave was simple and fundamental. It was 'how to operate a PC'.

You may think the job was bagatelle. It wasn't. Since most of the participants were from poor family and orphans. Few of them have really interacted with a computer. Therefore, I used extra energy. It could be proved during my tutor time. However, in my opinion, they already know how to define what a computer is in the modest way. At least, I am sure, they must have heard a stuff called 'computer' before.

The tutorial was separated into two groups based on their level, the elementary school group and the junior high school one. The elementary school group had more than 40 children and the other group had more than 20 children, sorry for not counting precisely :) I and another volunteer got the elementary school group. Each group had only 2 used and obsolete computers. Back to 486 processor era though. What a condition :-)

Okay, the interesting story just begun. First, I let my friend to explain what 'Folder' is. The class went enthusiast so I thought it would be okay. Then I decided to watch the other class for a while. Surprisingly, the class had not started yet. Apparently, one PC failed to start and the tutor seemed frustrated fixing it. Well, I helped him finding out the problem and asked him to start the class. The class went 'normal' after I overcame the problem. The two PC worked well then. The material for this class was 'Word Processing'. I noted that the tutor had limited knowledge about computer particularly the material he taught. However I appreciate his enormous spirit and motivation teaching kids. I thought at least the material was just how to align a paragraph. Therefore it was very basic and he explained it well.

Finally my tutor time came. I called one by one all kids to sit right beside me so they could 'touch' keyboard and mouse and look at monitor screen directly. Then I told them how to move a file from a folder to another. When I explained it they seemed understood. Surprisingly they didn't know how to operate and move a mouse though. Wow, their hands extremely hard to move the cursor to point certain buttons. It was forced me to teach what mouse is and how to operate it in order to navigate smoothly in a GUI environment. Not to mention the time needed just to write down their names using keyboard. They looked for each character one by one and used right-single-forefinger to press the character they aimed to use though. Well it took about two and a half hours to accomplish the tutorial including the practice.

First, what I am trying to say here is it needs extra energy to teach elementary school kids. The patience needed to handle their slowness to follow the materials I gave. The patience needed to overcome their naughtiness and loud noise they made during the class. Furthermore they come from poor family and orphans. The knowledge they have might have been as not much as those wealthy children. For instance, they didn't know how to move and operate a mouse. FYI, I already gave many lectures and I didn't find any difficulties since most of my classes had good materials knowledge.

Second, the gap between the rich and the poor still can be seen. The wealth can provide their children best education needs from expensive school to hiring private teacher. No wonder, there is a stereotype that education is just for wealthy people. There is little chance and opportunity for the poor children. They'd better find a job and loose their right to get education. Not to mention underdevelopment villages that really lack school. If only the new minister of education could have handled this. Thanks Lord for giving me many chances and opportunities having good education!

Third, I would like to give my deep respect to all elementary school teachers who dedicate their life for education. I don't know how they can get by having low salary from the government. They have family to feed and look after!

Last but not least, by this post, I would like to invite all readers to participate in education. Your help doesn't have to be in advance. I know some of us are not good at teaching. Our help could be simple and modest things such as donating old text books to orphan foundation or underdevelopment villages could help a lot.

Born To Be A Sleeper?

It seems that some cat lovers already missed Mudreg and have requested more pictures of him. Since I am a novice in photography field, I still get difficulties to find interesting angles, compositions, moments, and so on just to take a single picture of Mudreg when he is awake. You know it is hard to ask Mudreg to freeze in a certain funny position. Is it possible to suddenly say this "Freeze! I am gonna take your pic!" to Mudreg when he poses in a funny and amusing manner? Ha-ha I don't think so :P For me, the easier way to take his pictures is when he is falling into a sleep. Definitely easy.

According to my maid and my incomplete observation, he usually sleeps over 11 hours in a day. Is cat really born to be a sleeper? Or maybe it's just my super duper lazy Mudreg, isn't it?

Okay, here's the lazy cat I took several days ago. Enjoy!

He felt comfortable lying on that chair and hence ready to sleep.

I am ready to sleep, whoah...!

Kenduri Cinta

Zulfikar told us his great impression about Kenduri Cinta (KC) he already attended. To tell the truth, KC on July was the last occasion I visited. I went there with Barlie, Faturrahman, Zul, and Luluk. It was three months ago. The last two occasions I was absent due to some ridiculous reasons. I think someone is already disappointed knowing that I am absolutely not able to visit the occasion again for the three times respectively. Sorry Sis, I think you should call barlie and ask him wheter he can go or not.

Yeah, My plane will take off to Jogja on Saturday at 7:00 AM. I am afraid that I will be extremely exhausted if I insist to come to KC. FYI, KC starts performing on Friday at 08:00 PM and will probably finish around 01:30 AM to 02:00 AM in the early morning. Frankly, I miss the performance of Kyai Kanjeng, Cak Nun, Taufik Ismail, Jose Rizal Manua, Ananto, Novia Kolopaking, and many more…

Maklum jarang jalan-jalan sih :)

Well, kita mulai dulu dari definisi RSS aja ya. Hehe tambah bingungkan? Udah deh, back to topic, intinya RSS adalah sebuah format yang berisi rangkuman sebuah situs.

Klik File -> New -> Feeds Group untuk membuat group Feeds. Misalkan Buat group Feeds untuk Webblog.

Membuat Feed Group di Abilon

Masih berada di group Weblogs, kemudian klik File -> New -> RSS or Atom feed untuk mendapatkan news feed yang diinginkan.

Membuat Feed Atom di Abilon

Kalau sudah, tunggulah beberapa saat. Biarkan Abilon bekerja dan bingo! Inilah hasilnya.
